Bollywood Fashion

For the past decade, the designers of the largest film industry in the world have been shaping the fashion of Indian clothing. Recently,Bollywood fashion is transcending and making a major impact on Western style as well. Let’s learn more about the cultural phenomenon that is
known as Bollywood.

Bollywood Fashion

Until the late 1980s, Hindi films demonstrated limited sense of style. Bollywood designers came to the limelight ever since Manish Malhotra did those catchy numbers for Urmila Matondkar in Rangeela. It was all upwards from there. Bollywood fashion became a force to be reckoned with. When Sushmita Sen appeared in flowing saris in a recent hit, this traditional dress got a big boost into urban style. Shamita Shetty made the sharara a hit with aptly titled “Sharara Sharara”.Finally, Priyanka Chopra made the red dupatta (stole) synonymous with Bollywood fashion.

Hindi films may have inspired Indian style over the last two decades, but the fascinating phenomenon is the transcendence of Bollywood fashion to the West. The recent bohemian or ethnic clothing wave is driven by Indian, and hence Bollywood fashion. The comfort, elegance, and especially the versatility of Indian clothing are not lost to the western public. For instance, various kurtas (tunic tops) can be worn to the beach, a tea party, the mall, or even a grand formal!

Bollywood Fashion

Where should you look for hip Bollywood fashion? A local India boutique is not a bad start. Another good place is the web. Plenty of sites such as Benzer and Seasons offer good choices.

Kareena ka Fashion Funda

She is one stylish and chic lady. Whenver she goes abroad, she would spend most of her time shopping and getting thr right clothes for adorning a fashion icon of bollywood. Also keeping in mind her attitude and mood for the moment.

Kareena

Asked if has she shifted loyalties from dress designer Manish Malhotra to Aki, she would say no, not at all. As Kareena and Karishma Kapoor both have been shot to fame by him. We're not the kind of people who move on in our friendships.

She is back with Manish Malhotra in 3 Idiots and the remake of Stepmom. She will be dressed up as a stylish young girl. She is planning to cut her hair. She is really proud to be called stylish.

The selection of clothes and designer depends upon the roles, says Kareena.

In Jab We Met, she was simply dressed in salwar-kameez. In her forthcoming films Qurbaan and 3 Idiots, she was minimalist in her clothes.

But the actress says she is equally comfortable playing a girl next door like she did in Omkara.

She carried off Kolhapuri chappals in Omkara, she is equally at home in Jimmy Choos in Kambakkht Ishq. She is equally proud of both kind of films.

Madhuri (Dixit) did a Mrityudand and a Choli ke peeche (in Khalnayak) side by side. Look at the film actors like Madhuri, my sister Karisma, Saif Ali Khan and Akshay did in the 1990s.

U are right, babes...clothes do matter but then this is not all that matters.
