Shriya-Kareena Mirror Images

Without a doubt both Shriya Saran and Kareena Kapoor are sexy sirens.

But, while Kareena Kapoor is an established actress in Bollywood, Shriya Saran is still making her way up the ladder. So is that why she pulled a copy cat act in her latest film?

Shriya Saran was spotted in her Tamil-Telugu movie 'Pistha' ('Thoranai') wearing the same exact swimsuit Kareena Kapoor wore in her film 'Tashan.' Maybe Shriya Saran has high hopes that her career will be placed on the fast track if she looked more like Kareena
Kapoor.

The actress, was similarly soaked and holding her hair back while wearing a pair of short shorts over the suit.

We want to know if you think Shriya Saran wore it better or if nothing can compare to Kareena Kapoor's sexy pose. Make sure to tell us what you think?

SRK "The Best Dressed"

Indian Bollywood actor Shahrukh Khan and direc...Image by AFP/Getty Images via Daylife

SRK’s always been associated with style and panache; someone who doesn’t follow fashion trends but makes a fashion statement. The ‘cool’ neckpiece became even cooler when he wore it in Kuch Kuch Hota Hai and his ponytail look and six-pack abs are still making news.

What makes it even more endearing is that even after all this, the actor is too modest to accept being called glamorous, which is why he thinks people around him are more glamorous than him!

"If you have personal style, whatever you wear will look stylish." - Shah Rukh Khan, when he bagged the Glam Personality of the Year Award at the Reebok Zoom Glam Awards 2008.

Afterall, he is not called the King Khan without a reason. Apart from
being the top superstar in Bollywood, Shahrukh Khan is also considered
India’s best-dressed star.

IS FASHION AT FAULT?

As the world watches France and Spain ban the wafer-thin models from gracing the catwalk, the question arises, "how thin is too thin?" One has to ask themselves, is the fashion world the only one to blame? There are many factors that have to be considered when determining a definite answer. It is hard to point the finger at only one facet because each one plays a significant role. How does fashion fit in the mix?

As previously mentioned, there are many pieces to this calorie-free pie. The entertainment industry, designer's sizing, our sedentary lifestyle, low self-esteem, female role models, and of course, the fashion industry are all culprits of why the thinning obsession is and always will be an important lesson to continue to learn from. Although the fashion industry seems to be at the forefront of this controversy, women still continue to buy the magazines, the designer clothing, and diet pills.

Let's start with one key ingredient at a time to determine the complexity of the issue we are discussing. The media is a suspect for creating false ideas and presenting the thinning of Hollywood. The glossy magazines make thin seem perfect or popular. It's prevalent in every aspect of Hollywood, one minute the applause of (insert name actress) shedding the weight and then the next minute we are scrutinizing her body for a bad camera angle. Rarely do you see a model's name blasted on the cover of your favorite tabloid that reads "Dying to Be Thin" or "(insert name actress) at a deathly 80 lbs!" Typically you are reading about Hollywood's Hottest actresses that are trying to conform into the idea of a "model". To look deeper, who is doing this to the actresses? The magazine editors? The casting directors? Their fashion stylists? Someone in Hollywood is filling these A-List actresses heads with these unrealistic ideals to be or look a certain way. When did that person become such an expert? The answer is they are not. They are not nutritionists, not personal trainers, and not dietitians. A lot of them are part of the actresses immediate entourage that are so caught up in the world's sick perception of beauty that they will do anything to maintain a certain look, even if it's deadly. Who needs friends like that?

It's not enough for us to see these images splashed in front of every major newspaper/magazine stand. People often judge their peers by the size of clothing they wear. Who created the numbers 34-24-36 as the perfect measurements? What is in a number anyway? Not all women who are 5'9" in height are going to be a size 0. Women come in all different body frames. That is the beauty of women. Rarely do you meet a perfect hourglass figure. Fashion designers use all sorts of methods when determining their size ranges for their collection. For example, you might be a size 4 in a Roberto Cavalli but then a size 2 in a Donna Karan. Ever wonder why that is possible? Or did you just figure you had to starve yourself to fit into what Roberto Cavalli's designers consider a size 2? Wear what fits and flatters you! It's just a harmless number, and guess what? You are the only one that knows!

For the designer's, we delve a little deeper. We all know that dressing Hollywood's elite is every designer's dream. That comes down to press and exposure. When Charlize Theron rocks Chanel, we all know it. But whatever happened to making the red carpet special and giving the models back their rightful covers? Between designers and editors, something has got to give if we want this thinning epidemic to get under control. In the 90's, fashion models, such as, Cindy Crawford, Elle McPherson, Rebecca Romaine, and Heidi Klum embodied wholesome and healthy bodies. Those were the faces that graced Vogue, W, and Sports Illustrated. You never saw Cindy, Elle, Rebecca, and Heidi's bodies looking undernourished or sick. What has changed over the past 10 years? The sample sizes have gotten smaller. Models have now been replaced with celebrities- who will do anything to fit into those sample sizes. A woman's body is appreciated by the curves in the bust, waist, and hips. Beautiful couture outfits need to take these shapes and entice women to buy their ready-to-wear collections. Now, there is no need for a model, because the clothes look the same on and off the hanger!

Building self-esteem in our youth is just a preventative measure for guiding girls into a healthier lifestyle. And what happened to exercise? Do you know that the first program to get cut in our school systems is the physical education classes? Before the days of the X-box or the Internet, people in general were more active. Whether it was after school sports teams or playing at the park with friends, calories were being spent by extracurricular activities outdoors. The surgeon general requires 30 minutes of cardio activity daily to maintain a healthy heart, which is the same amount of time that is actually spent checking email, myspace, facebook, twitter, or even playing solitaire on the computer. Yet, somehow, someway, we never have time to walk our dogs on a brisk 30 minute walk or play with our children in the park. As parents, you have the right to encourage this healthy adaption to your daily routine. You are also the person responsible for setting the example of what good body image is and defining the elements of a healthy diet. Yes, children will still watch tv, read magazines, and surf the web, but having a responsible role model in their parents can be just as effective.

Is it just the fashion industry's view of the perfect body that has caused the modeling world to crackdown on their model's weight? Is it just the entertainment industry in general? Will the US ever step up and take notice? Actually many NY designers, along with Vogue editor in chief, Anna Wintour are willing to make conscious efforts in their selection of models that walk in runway shows or pose in fashion editorials. Will it ever be universal? Unfortunately, the mystery of what is too thin will never be completely solved. But on a positive note, at least the powerful influences of the fashion world have stopped to take notice and are now realizing what these unrealistic ideas are doing to millions of American women.

How to be pro-active on your own weight goals is plain and simple. Remember you can make a difference- encourage yourself and the ones around you to be positive about themselves rather than harp on the negatives. Not everyone in the world was meant to be a model or actress. We are all given creative and unique gifts in this world, focus on what makes you a standout! Life is about inspiring others to live their lives to the fullest and healthiest.

MYSTYLE.COM--HOW TO WEAR PRINTS?

(as featured on mystyle.com)

What are the rules when wearing prints? Which print/colors go together?—Anna L., Cambridge, Massachusetts

There's only one rule: Simplicity. "The key to pulling this trend off is to K.I.S.S.—Keep it Simple, Sexy," stylist Toni Ferrara explains.
If you're worried about your figure, fear not. (Yes, Mary-Kate may be waifish, but Jill Scott isn't, and the prints she wears on No. 1 Ladies Detective Agency are gorgeous.)
"Prints can be worn on all sizes and body types," Ferrara assures. Just remember to always practice balance and proportion.
If you're still intimidated, here are a few more guidelines.
Suppose you have a fuller bust. Try a solid-colored top with a printed skirt, or, Ferrara posits, "a fitted floral dress would work with a solid blazer to draw the eye into the print and therefore, create the slimming illusion." Throw in a belt, too, if that makes you happy.
For pear-shaped fashionistas, "I suggest a printed top with a solid bottom," Ferrara says. "Prints are made to capture the eye's attention; by wearing the print in a top, it will create a proportioned silhouette."
Whatever you do, take a big step back when it comes to accessories. "Choose a color from the pattern and stick to that shade for a bold bangle or strappy shoe," Ferrara says.

Aishwairya's Outfits improved at Cannes

Aishwarya Rai is a regular guest at International Cannes Film Festival. It's been a while since she first represented India at the celebrated annual event in 2002. When it comes to Cannes, she has literally done it all and seen it all. She's been on the jury and she has shone on the red carpet, not to forget her fashion faux pas and the ruthless criticism her Neeta Lulla-designed wardrobe was subjected to in 2003.

Aishwarya Rai wearing a green saree at 2003 Cannes made a complete mockery of it and it seemed that a better stylist would do her a world of good.Ash wore a gown in 2004 but it took her some telling that her body is not shaped to don a gown and as a result it was another case
of Ash not knowing what to wear. Bitter experiences made Ash wise, as this was reflected in the dress she wore in 2005 as it drew a lot of appreciation. Ash's wardrobe has always created waves and last year she was seen hand in hand with hubby Abhishek Bachchan.
But now, Ash has wisened to the stylish ways of Cannes. Seven years later, Bollywood actress Aishwarya Rai's walk of poise and elan at the ongoing French festival has left the Indian fashion fraternity raving.

Despite the bevy of Hollywood A-listers gracing the event, Aishwarya proved to be a head turner.

Her choice of an elegant white off-shoulder Roberto Cavalli train gown teamed with a neatly tied bun and simple pearl drop earrings besides a Swarovski box clutch and red peep-toes was a sure shot hit. And a complete throw away from the jarring green sari she wore to the event in 2002, say designers.

Aishwarya carried the gown really well and looked beautiful. She has great presence that fits her perfectly in the international fashion circuit. She carried off that gown with confidence and walked the red carpet with aplomb.

"When she was criticised for her bad dressing sense at Cannes, the person who should have been blamed was her stylist. But I guess now she has learnt the tricks of the trade and is doing really well. It's important to know how to behave with your clothes on the red carpet," he said.

For designer Abdul Halder, Aishwarya, whose dress would have cost nothing less than Rs.5 million as per industry estimates, looked as though she was wearing a "wedding gown minus the veil".

Though the beauty queen-turned-actress exhibited marked improvement in her dressing sense with differently styled gowns at the event every subsequent year post-2002, she scored a perfect 10 with her attire this year.

Aishwarya, a regular at the Cannes Film Festival red carpet and L'Oreal brand ambassador, is beginning to reinvent not only her wardrobe but herself too on the global scene.

Aishwarya Rai dazzles at Cannes

When it comes to celebrity style and fashion, a true star knows the ropes. Celebrities always seem to be a step ahead of the latest fashion styles and trends.

The very beautiful Aishwarya Rai who is a part of the jury since 1993, looked elegant as a white peacock in white colored strapless Cavalli gown that clung to her perfect figure.

Aishwarya Rai looked gorgeous and was well complimented by hubby Abhishek Bachchan who wore a white coat teamed with white shirt and black pants. Completely stunning, holding a swarovski red box clutch, the actress wore red peep-toe heels, pearl drop earrings and rings.

Aishwarya Rai Bachchan dazzled at the opening ceremony of the prestigious Cannes Film Festival. Aish is getting better by the day. As it is, she has a stunning personality and whatever she wears looks good on her.

Aishwarya Rai Bachchan finally proved that she was a pro at the routine, be it Bollywood or Hollywood.

Shah Rukh Unappealing on Filmfare

Bollywood star Shahrukh Khan was featured on the cover page of Indian showbiz magazine Filmfare, the 2nd issue of the month of May 2009. The cover page was tagged with “I hate to lose India’s biggest star, SRK candid confession”.

Who styled the cover for this May edition of Filmfare?

SRK was looking so unattractive in those man-scarves that are no longer in. They just desperately wanted Shah Rukh to come off as trying too hard. A scarf with a buttoned up shirt and slacks??

Common and unappealing!!!

Back issue of Filmfare magazine had Kareena Kapoor as the cover page celebrity.

Red Carpet Beauty-Aishwarya Rai at Cannes

Looking simply stunning and sizzling, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan walked down the red carpet with grace while wearing a strapless white Roberto Cavalli train gown at the opening of the 62nd International Cannes Film Festival on Wednesday, May 13.

Bollywood Divas opt for Long Tresse's

Kareena Kapoor as Dolly MishraImage via Wikipedia

They might experiment with the cut, but when it comes to the length of those silky locks, long is how our silverscreen’s temptresses prefer it.

Be it Sonam Kapoor, Tabu, Kareena Kapoor, Tara Sharma, Celina Jaitley, Amrita Rao, Hannsikaa Motwani or even Bipasha Basu, one thing all ofthem have in common is long tresses. Wonder if that’s any style
statement or just a personal choice!

Hansikaa Motwani has no issues managing her long tresses. "Moreover, when you have long hair, you have the choice of sporting different kinds of looks. Like in real life, I generally go for soft perms, the straightened look, or even the razor cut for different occasions,” she says.

However, while Sonam Kapoor may boast of having the longest tresses in the industry at present, the actress herself says that she would not mind going in for a hair cut, provided it’s for a role. After all, hair can be re-grown and actually it’s your work that is counted, at the end of the day.

Sonam Kapoor is one of the few B-Town actress who simply has a passion to experiment with her tresses rather than keep them poker straight and always ironed.

Bipasha Basu was in news for her super stylish avatar in the movie “Race”, those long locks were deadly.

Check out head turners. Got it, flaunt it... seems to be the motto here. Ah well, we're not complaining! All's good that looks good, hai naa?

Bollywood Stars sporting Trendy Sunglasses

Parveen BabiImage via Wikipedia

With sunglasses too, 70's retro look is back in fashion। And,especially, coloured rim shades.

Nobody wears more trendy sunglasses better than Bollywood Stars, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Priyanka Chopra, Preity Zinta, Kangna रानौत who hold their heads high off the sets. व्हिले Mumbai’s swish set ऑफ़ society ladies like Avanti Birla, Anju Taraporewala, Ramona नारंग have taken the trend to the race-course and brunches with equal elan.

Eye-wear brands like Provogue, Kazo,Mojo etc. are putting their बेस्ट this season. They have launched some over-sized sunglasses which कामे with a signature rim. Coloured rims, some encrusted with स्वारोव्स्की crystals, some with pointy edges, shades with butterfly or cupid motif
on the arms, are instant hits.

The eye-brand officials insist that it’s exciting to see पीपुल experimenting with sunglasses. Sunglasses are a reflection of one’sattitude and so the shape, size and colour worn are made completely out-of-the-box, yet they remain very wearable. Agreed, for style icon
Saif Ali Khan, whose sunglasses are often made-to-order, now sports his pair with a coloured thin red rim.

Aishwarya’s white rimmed bumblebee shades are talk of the town already. In fact, coloured rims like red and amber are also fast catching up. The best news is that fashionable eyewear is no longer too expensive. Even collegians can flaunt the new-age look quite comfortably.

Actress Soha Ali Khan, who is a big fan of laminates, is gung-ho about yellow coloured lenses in over-sized frames. In fact, laminates is another trend which has set in this season. Thanks to the Dev D look of actor Abhay Deol, laminates have gone down well with men too.

So guys get ready for the Zeenat Aman, Sharmila Tagore and Parveen
Babi look by grabbing your pair of white rimmed sunglasses. It’s the coolest way to beat the glare.

Aamir College Boy Look in 3 Idiots

Three Idiots, a forthcoming film, set in an en...Image via Wikipedia

Aamir's Ghajini look created news and took the whole nation in awe. It had Aamir flaunting his six packs but it is said that in his next release that is Raj Kumar Hirani's Three Idiots he is going to remain covered throughout the film and will have a lean College Boy look.

He has been working a lot for his look in Ghajini but knowing Aamir he
wouldnt do injustice to his role in Three Idiots too, where he is said
to be playing a softer role that of a college student.

According to sources he plays a adventurous and a handsome guy who
happens to love his friends more than his parents and as the role is
not action packed he doesn't need to flaunt his physique, and knowing
Aamir he is of the kind who emphasizes on his acting and doesn't
believe in showing of his body only because he has a mind-blowing
physique that he will want to show it off.

The director Raj Kumar Hirani has kept in mind Aamir and the knows
what his character will look like in the film. It is said that a lot
of changes are made in his character of Aamir than what it is in the
book. Aamir will need to loose lots of weight and will have to walk
with a hunched back.

As Raj Kumar Hirani is a perfectionist in his work and he has done
wonders in his Munnabhai movies Aamir has decided not to interfere in
his work. All he is doing is that he is only concentrating in his
character and in his work and has full faith in Raju's script and
direction.

The shooting of the film will resume in December in Bangalore and
that's where the largest part of the film will be shot. Kareena Kapoor
is supposed to be playing the female lead in the film which is based
on Chetan Bhagat's novel Five Point Someone. The movie is to be
released in 2009.

IPL Season II is Fashionable

Big Bugs are riding on these days and since they have so much of money
on stake, the Bollywood stars Shahrukh Khan and beauties Shilpa Shetty and Preity Zinta are churning out every thing possible to motivate their team and to glamorize the event.

priti

While the teams that they own are having mixed fortunes in the Indian Premier League Season II, the owners of these franchisees are using the platform of the IPL, especially during the times when there teams are playing to issue their own fashion statements.

They are also using the IPL platform to carve a niche for themselves in terms of the quotient of style.

Moreover, when a film star is present in a sporting arena, it always becomes his or her ground to make his own fashion statement. IPL is no exception, and in the second season Shah Rukh Khan, Preity Zinta and Shilpa Shetty are also aggressively marketing their star value apart from channeling their efforts for the cause of their respective teams. Their presence in various matches has set the stadiums on fire and it has also prompted the fans to come out in their best Sunday attire to
watch the match on the ground.

Shah Rukh Khan has been aggressively promoting the chequered Pathani scarf, also called as fiafa in the Arabic world and by mixing it with a T-Shirt or even a suit he has given this humble scarf a new
positioning. It is similar to what was done by Dev Anand many years ago when he used to wear the neck scarf with all kind of dresses.

Shah Rukh Khan's looks has literally wooed his fans.

Preity Zinta and Shilpa Shetty are also not far behind. While Preity appears as serious a corporate boss in her attire, Shilpa Shetty oozes glamour, passion and a chutzpah, as if IPL is her new arena to do a cat walk. Her ultimate fashion statement came when she sported the off-white hand-woven bund gala that snugly fitted Shilpa’s slim waist but remained open at the neck for her team’s indigo blue scarf to show, as a head turner. Shetty was also seen sporting a Maharaja style blue turban on her head to support her team

For Preity Zinta, when her team is playing she would invariably sport her team jersey and bumblebee light brown shades and serious-yet-uber chic dress sense and bubbly as she is, Preity Zinta competed with
Shetty with her red Santa topi too. Preity's ability to reach out to her fans makes her the darling of the audience is it on the ground or sitting in the drawing rooms. She does not have any reservations to
embrace her players.

Abhishek Bachchan Style Mantra

Drona (film)Image via Wikipedia

Abhishek was labeled as the Sexiest Asian Man of 2006 by UK's Eastern
Eye magazine. We have seen sporting him a hairband.Abhishek claimed
that his band was not any fashion statement with his hairband. The
band had a practical purpose. But it also made a fashion statement
that actors like Farhan inspired and also flaunted/

Abhi stated, “I am not making any fashion statement. It’s only an
accessory to keep hair off my face…If I take it off, my hair will go
haywire and keep falling all over".

Then he was seen in a totally new avatar in his two films Jhoom
Barabar Jhoom
(by Shaad Ali) and ‘Drona’ (by Goldie Behl). Drona,
particularly, presented Abhishek in a very stylish image, with long
hair, slim figure etc. In the movie, Abhishek played a superhero in
the film.

And now he keep changing from clean shaven look to new hair-do and a
villain style mustache for his films Pa and Ravan respectively.

Whether you like Abhi’s style or not, rumours are rife that Aishwarya
Rai
simply adores the new look of her hubby-to-be. And he keep
evolving it to make a statement.
