HOLLYWOOD STRIKES GOLD

Last night 2010's award season kicked off in style as the stars hit the red carpet for the Golden Globes.

All that glitters is gold, and there were quite a few bronze beauties in Beverly Hills to Celebrate the 67th Golden Globes at the Beverly Hills Hilton Hotel. The biggest names in Hollywood turned out to watch the ceremony, which was hosted by the UK's very own Ricky Gervais. And while we are of course fascinated by who took home the trophys, we're more focused on who wore what.

The best dressed ladies channeled the new spring trends and opted for colour - Cameron Diaz wore red, Marion Cotillard opted for green, Ginnifer Goodwin wore electric blue and Carey Mulligan wore navy.

And of course there was a stylish array of classic black gowns on offer. Courtney Cox chose fashion's favourite, Victoria Beckham, Penelope Cruz sported a lace dress by Giorgio Armani Prive and Jennifer Aniston looked incredible in a Valentino dress slit to the thigh.

But it was romance that ruled the night - Chloe Sevigny's beautifully ruffled Valentino gown, Emily Blunt's rose coloured Dolce & Gabbana dress, Maggie Gyllenhaal in RM by Roland Mouret and Diane Kruger in a hot pink Christian Lacroix offering.

And our best dressed winner?

BEST DRESSED

#1. TRUE BLOODY GOOD FASHIONISTA. Anna Paquin sparkles on the red carpet at the 2010 Golden Globe Awards at The Beverly Hilton Hotel on Sunday (January 17) in Beverly Hills, Calif. The 27-year-old actress was the talk of the town in a gold Stella McCartney gown with a plunging neckline. Anna accessorized with vintage jewels from Stephen Russell. Anna’s fiance (and True Blood co-star) Stephen Moyer wore a spiffy custom-tailored black tuxedo, dress shirt and shoes all by Burberry.

#2. MRS. AFFLECK. Yes, THE Jennifer Garner sparkled in Versace on the carpet. The intricate cut silver stripes accented her perfectly fit silhouette. Can you believe this beauty had two babies? The 37-year-old actress looked stunning in a Atelier Versace spiral nude/grey gown, Casadei shoes, Judith Leiber clutch and Bulgari jewels. Kudos to Rachel Zoe, you did good!

#3. PURPLE REIGNS. G-L-A-M-O-R-O-U-S, is exactly the word that will be used to describe the sensational Fergie Ferg. Lady-like and feminine in lavender Elie Saab, she was exquisite and goddess-like. We know Fergie knows how to show off her body, but we are thankful that she chose glamour tonight!

#4. NINE OUT OF TEN.
The 35-year-old Nine actress wore a Giorgio Armani Privé black lace gown that features a dramatic neckline beaded in a floral pattern, horizontal ribbon striping and fitted sleeves. She accessorized with 69 carats of Chopard diamonds. Penelope, who is nominated for Best Performance by an Actress in a Supporting Role in a Motion Picture for her work in Nine, joked on the red carpet, “I’m not like Puff Daddy, I hold my own umbrella.”

#5. UP IN THE AIR OF STYLE.
George Clooney took a break from planning his telethon for Haiti to go the Golden Globes with his stunning girlfriend Elisabetta, wearing Roberto Cavalli. Clooney is nominated for best actor for "Up in the Air" and didn't let the rain stop him for working the stands and signing autographs for fans.

MOST IMPROVED: SEEING STRAIGHT. Sandra Bullock definitely has stepped up her style game an we are soo impressed! Thank you to her stylist and the lovely designers of Bottega Venetta. Her best accessory was her sexy husband Jesse James, holding her umbrella while she posed. Kudos to you, Sandy, we are looking forward to SAG Awards & Oscars!

And with the Fashion Winners, there are the Fashion Losers, . . .Worst Dressed, . . .

BRIDE WARS. The usually fashion-savvy Kate Hudson disappointed in Marchesa. The dress is very buttercream, wedding dress for the red carpet soiree. Someone has bride on the brain! The 30-year-old Nine actress wore a white hot Marchesa strapless silk crepe gown, Casadei’s Signature 3504 triple platform pump, and a bracelet by Stephen Russell Contemporary Collection.

NEIN. Nine star Marion Cotillard walks the red carpet at the 2010 Golden Globe Awards at The Beverly Hilton Hotel on Sunday (January 17) in Beverly Hills, Calif. Marion, 34, strutted her stuff in Christian Dior, Jimmy Choo “Drake sandals” and Roger Vivier “Navette” clutch in Black Crocodile. The lace slip showing in the high slit is oh-so-tacky!

PROJECT RUN-AWAY.
Heidi Klum and Seal don’t seem to mind the rainy red carpet. The 36-year-old model, who wore Roberto Cavalli, in a light blue gown that did not fit or flatter her body at all. The combo of Juliet-off-the-shoulders top and the mermaid gown, is AUF-ful!

LITTLE BO, TINA? Tina Fey, Tina Fey, the only thing funny on Sunday night was your hideous ensemble. Zac Posen should've left that in Mary Poppins closet, because it's not a good look on you. The 39-year-old three-time Golden Globe Awards winner wore a Zac Posen dress, Christian Louboutin heels with bow details and Fred Leighton jewels.

DUH DUN DUH DUN (SNAP! SNAP! SNAP!) The fashion maven Cher forgot this was the Golden Globes and went through the Costume Department and asked for the Morticia Adams special. Shakes head, why does she get more unfashionable with age! She was promoting Burlesque, she should've showed her vintage style, instead of a scary motif!

FASHION REWIND: The 15th Annual Critics' Choice Awards

The 15th Annual Critics' Choice Movie Awards gala aired live for the third straight year on VH1 on January 15, 2010 at 9:00PM ET/PT.The awards are bestowed annually by the Broadcast Film Critics Association (BFCA) to honor the finest in cinematic achievement. Since its inception in 1995, the Critics' Choice Movie Awards has been a star-studded bellwether event of the awards season and historically, the most accurate predictor of the Academy Award nominations.

The BFCA is the largest film critics' organization in the United States and Canada, representing more than 200 television, radio and online critics. Emmy and Tony Award winning actress Kristin Chenoweth took the stage at the Hollywood Palladium as the host of the live event.

The action starts with the red carpet, let's be real. Yea, congrats to "Avatar" and "Inglorious Bastards" for their win, but I am here to tell you who was a Fashion Dream and who needs a WAKE UP call from their Fashion Nightmare. Here we go, . . .so many lovely ladies and gents, how will I choose?

1. LOVE DRUNK. The incredibly charming and handsome, Bradley Cooper steals the 1st spot of Best Dressed for me. Not only is the man dapper in his duds, but a dreamboat when it comes to down-to-earth. The classic white dress shirt and black three-piece Prada ensemble looks sensational. Who knew that our dirty-sexy Hangover friend could clean up this well?

2. JUST TO BE BLUNT. Hitting the red carpet, the Best Actress nominee, Emily Blunt gleams in a silver beaded Georges Chakra Couture dress with a scalloped hem and an Irit Design ring. But maybe her best accessory of the night was her dashing fiancé, John Krasinski (not pictured). Emily continues to elevate her fashion standards and let's be real, this devilish fashionista definitely does wear Prada!

3. LOVELY BONES. The Best Young Actress award winner, Saoirse Ronan won for her brilliant role in The Lovely Bones. She wore a multi-colored sequin embellished shift dress with cute gold bootlets. The gracious starlet thanked her parents for their love & support which was very refreshing. Big things on the horizon for Ms. Ronan who is a sure-thing for an award in March. Some say she has a big date with Oscar!

4. LIVE LONG & FASHIONABLE. This should be the motto for Hollywood hottie, Zoe Saldana who lit up the red carpet in a gorgeous white cocktail dress by Jason Wu. The 31-year-old actress’ latest movie Avatar won for Best Action Movie, beating out District 9, The Hurt Locker, Inglourious Basterds and Star Trek. She was adorned in ack Vartanian jewels — 18kt white gold turquise and diamond earrings and 18kt white beryl and diamonds rings.

5. BEAM ME UP, HOTTIE. Taking 5 on the list is a tie, between co-stars of Star Trek, Chris Pine and Zachary Quinto. Both men looking handsome and perfectly put together in their phenomenal suits. Quinto showing off the hottest trend in men's suiting for 2010 in the grey suit with a dark dress shirt and fun tie, while Pine opts for the contrasting lapel and suit combo that suits him just fine!

And then there the FASHION NIGHTMARES that even Anna Wintour would agree upon. It's a new year, Hollywood, someone should've asked for a STYLIST for Christmas! Before I get to the fash-tastrophes, I will give a MOST IMPROVED award to the sensational Sandra Bullock. She is trying. Still not in love with this dress, because last award season you made my Best Dressed list, so it can be done! We know you have an edge since you are married to bad-boy Jesse James, but this hodge-podge of a dress is a better silhouette on your cute figure, just a little too chaotic. Even the fashion critics would agree, less is more! Nice try, we have Golden Globes, SAG, and Oscars, we have faith you are going to iron out all your fashion blunders by then!

FASH-TASTROPHES.

WOW.  Who do you think was a SHOCKER on the red carpet?

WHY. When in Rome, do as the Romans do. The When in Rome star, Kristen Bell was a presenter at the show and stuck to all black from Prada, from her sleek silk V-neck dress to her peep-toe heels and clutch. A bit boring for Ms. Bell, who usually dazzles on the carpet. A little disappointed that she would go this mellow for this event. We are hoping she kicks it up a few notches for the rest of award season.

WHOA. Who made you say WHOA on the carpet?

WHOOPS. Who made a fashion no-no?

WHAT WAS HE/SHE THINKING?  Who needs serious style help?

I want your input. Comment, email me, let me know!

HOTTEST FASHION TRENDS YOU WILL SEE ON THE CARPET

Every year, there is a trend, asymmetrical gowns, metallics, or even simple black strapless, so what's the trend going to be come Sunday, January 17th, 2010 for the Golden Globes? Well after taking a look at Fashion Week in NY back in October, it gives hints to some trends that should be gracing the red carpet tomorrow.

TREND #1: COLOR YOURSELF. Beautiful colored jewels will adorn the necklines of some of Hollywood's hottest. Red rubies, emeralds, sapphires, in bold pieces will be making quite the statements. Look for Fred Leighton, Geary, and Neil Lane to make these Tinseltown beauties bling in style.

TREND #2: FEMININE TOUCH. Luck be a lady, that wins a Golden Globes, that is for sure. You will see some of your favorites gently draped in ruffles. Feminine detailing that is soft and beautiful give a sense of balanced beauty to Hollywood glamour.

TREND #3: THINK PINK. Magenta is a signature color of the season, so be prepared to see some color on the red carpet this year. Not only does this gorgeous shade captivate the imagination, but it enhances the beautiful bronze bodies, as well as, the fair porcelain canvases that it's wrapped around.

TREND #4: BOLD SHOULDER. If the asymmetrical trend wasn't fierce enough, we will see a lot of one-sleeve accents. The couture element of these gowns will be sure showstoppers! Rumor is that January Jones will be wearing a sexy bold shoulder in black! We'll see, . . .

TREND #5: IN AU. Glittering gold is the new black. Dazzling metallics take center stage amongst Hollywood's brightest stars! Outshining the rest of the gowns on the red carpet, these golden beauties will even give the Golden Globe trophy a run for their money.

TREND #6: LADY IN RED. Oh yes, you heard it, Tinseltown's ladies will be on fire on the carpet come Sunday night. I swear, rumor has it that Cameron Diaz selected a red hot number with cap sleeves. You'll see beautifully draped gowns in halters, w/ sleeves, and even strapless. This sizzling hot hue will be hard to miss!

GET RED CARPET READY

We will all be sitting close to our TV's watching the award season officially kick off on Sunday night's Golden Globes. But how do these celebrities continue to look flawless? And how can you achieve the same perfection? Here's a few tips on how to rock the red carpet in style.

1. GO DIRTY. That is in reference to your hair. Dirty hair is the best to style and it holds product better. Oily and greasy hair can be taken care of with dry shampoo. But if you want heads turning, leave it dirty.

2. RELAX. Might sound like something that would be an obvious, right? Doing yoga even a week leading up to a big event will keep your energy balanced and relaxed. The night before the red carpet event avoid alcohol at all costs, because the next morning you will be flushed and swollen. Try herbal tea and get to bed early!

3. FUEL IS GOOD. All of our favorite celebrities look thin, yet so full of energy, that is because even they eat before the show. It doesn't mean you need to have a 4 course brunch, but eating a regular, substantial breakfast and healthy snack will keep your blood sugar leveled and keep you from fainting.

4. GOT IT. FLAUNT IT. Know your best assets! Only select dresses that flatter your shape and your best asset. This is not the time to experiment with a mermaid-style gown. Also, if you are in a silhouette that makes you look sexy, you will feel sexy too.

5. NEVER NEW. This is not the time to break in the new Jimmy Choos or Louboutins. Wear a broken-in pair. Award show events start early and the after after parties last into the wee hours, so your feet need to be taken seriously. Also, a pedicure is great to get you relaxed, the day before and even the day after.

6. H2-OH YEA. Avoid any beverage that has sodium! WATER! WATER! WATER! Hydrate yourself for the long hours ahead. And under the hot California sun and bright lights, you will need it to avoid perspiring all over your designer duds.

7. ANGLES ARE EVERYTHING. Practice makes perfect and it also makes the perfect photos. Take time in front of the mirror in your dress and find your best angles. Celebrities are very aware of what angles make them look longer, leaner, and just oh so fabulous!

8. FAKE IT. The saying in Hollywood is, "Fake it, til you make it!"
  • BLINK. False eyelashes not only enhance your amazing eyes, but they make your eyes pop!
  • BOOBS. "Sticky boobs" or "cutlets" are easy to apply and can give you the illusion of cleavage and even bump you up a bra size. Celebrities who aren't ready to make the under-the-knife commitment, opt for these enhancements that are reusable.
  • BULGE. Were the holidays not nice to your waistline? That is ok, even Eva Longoria rocks Spanx and Taraji P. Henson proudly showed hers at last years award show. This body briefer can make you one size smaller and the best reason to wear it, is that it slims and smooths your silhouette in all the right places.
  • BODY (Hair). Clip-in extensions are a Hollywood secret that every celeb is accustom too. It added volume and length. Ever wonder how your favorite screen siren can be photographed with her new bob hair cut and then show up the next night with below-the-shoulder tresses? It's all smoke and mirrors baby! The clip-in extensions are real hair that can be curled, straightened, and styled just like your regular hair and are virtually impossible to discover.

9. STICKY STICKY. Do you honestly think those dresses stay up all by themselves? Even the deep plunging necklines and revealing backs? Umm, think again. It's your best friend in the entire world, ladies, please meet TopStick. This double-stick tape traditionally is used to keep on wigs and hair pieces, so you know its going to hold fabric to the body. So if you want to avoid a wardrobe malfunction, you should definitely pick some up at a Beauty Supply store. They even keep your bra straps securely under your tanks during summer.

10. GOLDEN RULE. Want to know how Hollywood always seems to beam with a sun-kissed tan during the winter? It's no secret that they love a good spray tan. Getting a nice glow does a body good and also enhances self-esteem. And after you go get a custom spray tan, enhance it more with Scott Barnes Body Bling, they rock it on Dancing With the Stars and even J. Lo is a fan!
