HDILCouture Week 2009

HDIL Couture 2009, a six-day star-studded extravaganza will show up its second edition with top notch Bollywood stars like Amitabh Bachchan, Aamir Khan, Shah Rukh Khan, Akshay Kumar, Sanjay Dutt and Saif Ali Khan who walk the ramp for the fashion pageant.




The couture week is an initiative of the Fashion Design Council of India (FDCI), which annually stages two editions of the hugely successful Wills Lifestyle India Fashion Week (WIFW) in New Delhi.

Designers participating in this event are Monisha Jaising, Pallavi Jaikishan, Varun Bahl, Manish Malhotra, Manav Gangavani and Suneet Varma. Ashish Soni, Anamika Khanna and Tarun Tahiliani will be the other designers to feature at the couture.

The Oct 11-16 event will see superstar Amitabh Bachchan walking the ramp for designer duo Abu Jani-Sandeep Khosla’s inaugural show. Aamir Khan, Akshay Kumar, Sanjay Dutt, Saif Ali Khan, Govinda, Ajay Devgan and Katrina Kaif are expected to walk the ramp for Salman Khan’s Being Human show Oct 13.

Then, filmmaker Karan Johar is making his fashion debut at the event. The maker of super hits like “Kuch Kuch Hota Hai”, “Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham” has teamed up with designer Varun Bahl to showcase men’s couture range on the last day. Since Karan Johar’s muse is Shah Rukh Khan, the Bollywood superstar will sashay down the ramp along with his wife Gauri Khan.

Bollywood’s young brigade Ranbir Kapoor and Imran Khan are also expected to walk the ramp.

Unlike WIFW, the couture week is not a business-driven event but more a celebration of the Indian cultural heritage in a grand manner. Hence emphasis igiven more to ramp decoration and creating a grand ambience to give an extravagant touch to the event.

Imraan Khan Crazy For Ties

Imran Khan is very strangely passionate for tie collection and that
too of various hues, styles. We have seen the Jaane Tu Ya Jaane star
sporting different ties on every occasion.

But ask him about this passion and Imran is quick to reply, “I have
always had a fetish for ties. I have many of them some old and new. I
never throw away the old ones as I have a strange affinity towards
them. I collect ties and Converse All-Stars shoes as they’re both a
lot of fun. You can add one or the other or both to jeans and a
T-shirt, and it suddenly becomes an amazing style statement.”

Imraan otherwise never cares for fashion. Its his attitude that makes him the way he is. Ask him if it is his new style statement and Imran says, "I like to wear what I am comfortable in. Style for me is the ability to look good without looking like you’re making a big effort. I look for things that connect with me personally. Be it a tie, a pair of shoes, whatever; it should be a reflection of my personality.”

Sanjay Dutt sports a debonair look

After his tatty out look with salt and pepper fuzz for Rahul Dholakia's Lamha , Sanjay now sports a very different and stylish look with finely carved side locks for ‘Luck’. The side locks have three triangles opposite each other. Aalim has designed the new hairstyle.

The film’s cast and crew left for a ten-day schedule to Cape Town from where they will proceed to Bangkok for the next schedule. Sanjay is happy with his new "deadly" look. " Soham is a very talented director and he has a creative outlook. We both discussed the look and I am very happy that Aalim has styled me exactly as we foresee," Sanjay said.



Aalim said, "This is one of Sanjay's most daring and dashing looks! It's a very different side lock with three triangles opposite each other. Sanjay can carry off anything larger than life...his aura is really huge! He is looking really cool and will set a new trend with his facial hair."

Soham said that he wanted a look for Sanjay Dutt, which has never worn before. "I designed a couple of looks on Photoshop and Sanjay suggested a particular style. Aalim took it to a different level with his international styling experience. He (Sanjay) is the only actor who can carry this style as he has an attitude that no one has," he said.

Dhilin Mehta is producing the film under the banner Shree Ashtavinayak Cine Vision Ltd. It marks the debut of Shruti Haasan , daughter of Kamal Haasan and stars Imran Khan , Mithun Chakraborty and Danny.
